What makes the leadership of South Shore Community Church so healthy—what gives SSCC’s leaders so much credibility in the eyes of our people, and what makes it such a delight to serve as a pastor in the church—is not our formal structure but, rather, the quality of relationships we share with one another as a pastoral team.

Our weekly meetings are the key to the relational and spiritual success of the whole enterprise. Usually SSCC’s pastors gather together for an hour-and-a-half each week. Many times we have no business agenda. We simply share our lives and pray for one another, and we also pray through the prayer requests our people submit Sunday by Sunday. We generally reserve important long time decisions and actions related to church programs and ministry for another context, meetings that we hold with the Board of Deacons.

SSCC currently has three pastors. Our tenure ranges from a few years in full-time ministry to more than twenty five. We have shared over the years in countless victories, joys and sorrows, big and small.

We use the title “pastor” to refer to the leadership position in the context of the local Church but we believe in the five fold ministries God gave to His body: Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors and Teachers, “For the perfecting of the saints for the work of the ministry. (Ephesians 4:11,12closeEphesians 4:11 11 And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers. . . . Ephesians 4:12 12 To equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ. . . . (ESV) ).
